Language and Immigration: Interpreting for Life-Changing Conversations

Language and Immigration: Interpreting for Life-Changing Conversations

A Partner You Can Rely On

USCIS interviews are structured, time-sensitive, and often emotionally loaded. Applicants are asked to explain personal details, respond to legal questions, and present their story with clarity. For individuals with limited English proficiency, navigating this process alone is daunting.

At Kaplan Interpreting Services, we’ve supported people through green card appointments, asylum interviews, naturalization interviews, and more. We understand the weight these conversations carry. Our interpreters don’t just speak the language, they carry the training, focus, and discretion required to support you at a critical moment.

What a Certified Interpreter Brings to the Room

In immigration settings, interpreters aren’t just repeating words. They follow strict standards: no summarizing, no omissions, no personal input. Their job is to reflect your exact message with total accuracy and neutrality.

That level of skill takes more than bilingual ability. It takes certification, professional experience, and an understanding of the USCIS process. That’s who we work with and that’s who we send to support you.

What we prioritize:

  • Clarity under pressure
  • Deep familiarity with immigration terms
  • Full confidentiality
  • Calm, steady presence

Our interpreters are not guessing. They’re prepared.

Document Translation That Meets USCIS Standards

USCIS requires certified translations for all non-English documents. This includes:

  • Birth certificates
  • Marriage or divorce records
  • Legal filings
  • Academic records
  • Letters of support or affidavits

We translate with precision and verify every detail before delivery; formatting, terminology, and certification, so your documents don’t get flagged or sent back for corrections.

Our Experience, Your Peace of Mind

Kaplan Interpreting Services was founded by a certified court and medical interpreter with over 15 years of experience in legal and government settings. Immigration cases aren’t new to us; we know what’s expected, what can go wrong, and how to help you stay focused on your part of the process.

You’ve done the hard work to get here. We’re here to make sure nothing gets lost in translation.

Need interpreting or translation support for your USCIS appointment? Let’s make sure your words are heard, clearly, completely, and professionally.

Alexandra Kaplan

CEO & Founder

Born in Dallas, Texas, Alexandra grew up surrounded by Spanish, English, Arabic, and Italian. After moving to Venezuela, Spanish became her primary language. She holds a Master's in Healthcare Administration from Washington University in St. Louis and is a California court certified and medical interpreter.

She founded Kaplan Interpreting Services after seeing an industry that treated interpreters as interchangeable and clients as ticket numbers. She built a protocol-driven operation where every interpreter is hand-selected and credentialed for the specific setting, every client has a dedicated point of contact, and risk management is built into every assignment.

Her career reached a historic milestone when she interpreted the conversation between President-elect Biden and Pope Francis. That assignment, along with engagements for Nike and the Summit of the Americas, set the standard for every client engagement that followed.

"The same protocols that protected that historic conversation now protect every assignment we handle."
