Woman & Minority-Owned Business

WBE & MBE Certified

Our Certifications

Kaplan Interpreting Services is a certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE). Founded in 2007 by Alexandra Kaplan, the company is owned and operated by a Hispanic-American woman with deep roots in language access work across legal, healthcare, corporate, and government sectors.

What WBE & MBE Certification Means

WBE and MBE certifications recognize businesses that are at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by women or by individuals from historically underrepresented racial or ethnic groups. The certifications are issued by independent third-party councils that verify ownership, operational control, and management.

For our clients, partnering with a WBE/MBE-certified vendor advances supplier diversity goals, supports compliance with federal and state procurement requirements, and contributes to corporate social responsibility programs that prioritize equitable contracting.

Why It Matters for Clients

  • Supplier diversity reporting: Engagements with Kaplan can be reported toward WBE and MBE spending targets in corporate, government, and federal procurement programs.
  • Federal and state contracts: Many federal and state RFPs require or prioritize certified diverse vendors. Our certifications meet those criteria.
  • DEI commitments: For organizations with public diversity, equity, and inclusion commitments, our certifications support measurable progress on supplier-side DEI metrics.
  • Lived expertise: A woman- and minority-owned interpreting agency brings firsthand insight into the language access challenges faced by underrepresented communities.
