Effective Date: January 1, 2025

Our Commitment

Kaplan Interpreting Services is committed to providing language access services on a non-discriminatory basis. We serve all clients, patients, and communities with equal professionalism, respect, and dedication regardless of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

Compliance with Federal Law

Our non-discrimination practices are grounded in compliance with the following federal requirements:

  • Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964: Prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. Kaplan Interpreting Services supports organizations in meeting their Title VI obligations by providing qualified interpreters and translators to ensure meaningful access for limited English proficient (LEP) individuals.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. We provide American Sign Language (ASL) and other sign language interpreters to support effective communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in compliance with ADA requirements.
  • Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act (ACA): Prohibits discrimination in health programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Our HIPAA-compliant medical interpreters help healthcare providers meet Section 1557 language access requirements.

Service Delivery

In the delivery of our interpreting and translation services, Kaplan Interpreting Services ensures that:

  • All individuals receive equal access to qualified interpreters regardless of the language they speak or sign.
  • Interpreter assignments are made based on qualifications, certification, and subject matter expertise without regard to protected characteristics of the requesting party or the end user.
  • Our interpreters adhere to professional codes of ethics that require impartiality, accuracy, and confidentiality in every assignment.
  • No individual is denied services, provided inferior services, or subjected to different treatment on any prohibited basis.

Employment Practices

Kaplan Interpreting Services is an equal opportunity employer. We recruit, hire, train, and compensate interpreters, translators, and staff without discrimination. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, certifications, experience, and performance.
