Why LA Immigrants Need Interpreters Now
Over 4,000 National Guard troops have been deployed to Los Angeles California as part of recent federal immigration enforcement actions. There have been numerous protests attended by both immigrants and American citizens demanding to be seen, heard, and respected. Some migrants have shared their nervous feelings as they seek work to survive, provide for and protect their families. In a sensitive time that calls for clear communication and complete understanding, immigrants deserve to be heard clearly and accurately.
Immigration Cases and Appointments
Immigration cases have been on the rise, with some highlighting the complexity of legal documents and the importance of being able to fully understand them. For instance, a 23 year old member of Mexico’s Indigenous Zapotec community thought he signed a consent form for a coronavirus test but may have unknowingly authorized his deportation.
These kinds of incidents should never happen. No one should have to worry about signing their future away while simply trying to care for their health. Unfortunately, this is the reality for a lot of immigrants. Some make the painful decision not to attend scheduled appointments, and while others go, they are scared and uncertain, hoping for a solution.Your future shouldn’t be left to chance.

CEO & Founder
Born in Dallas, Texas, Alexandra grew up surrounded by Spanish, English, Arabic, and Italian. After moving to Venezuela, Spanish became her primary language. She holds a Master's in Healthcare Administration from Washington University in St. Louis and is a California court certified and medical interpreter.
She founded Kaplan Interpreting Services after seeing an industry that treated interpreters as interchangeable and clients as ticket numbers. She built a protocol-driven operation where every interpreter is hand-selected and credentialed for the specific setting, every client has a dedicated point of contact, and risk management is built into every assignment.
Her career reached a historic milestone when she interpreted the conversation between President-elect Biden and Pope Francis. That assignment, along with engagements for Nike and the Summit of the Americas, set the standard for every client engagement that followed.
"The same protocols that protected that historic conversation now protect every assignment we handle."
